Guests relax in the Hacienda, an architectural jewel with five guest rooms, courtyard garden, Great Room, Map Room, and numerous public areas, decks, and patios with broad vistas of the Pacific Ocean from 4100' in altitude. Imported tiles, tropical hardwood furniture, colorful stucco, and superb Mudejar style blend perfectly with the Mediterranean climate of Cerro Coyote or "Coyote Mountain."

Perched atop the Cordillera de Tilláran mountain chain, the Hacienda overlooks miles of Pacific coast and ocean, the Gulf and Peninsula of Nicoya, and the Rio Baranca. Coyote Mountain Inn provides spacious guest rooms, the Dining Room, teaching kitchen, bar, Great Room, pool, and open-air observation tower. A very private hideaway, the Hacienda accepts only a select number of guests. Each room or suite features breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, full ensuite bathrooms, handmade tropical hardwood furniture, and queen or king beds.

Completely independant and sustainable, the Hacienda uses solar and micro-hydro power sources. A nearby garden and fruit tree plantings provide ingredients for the preperation of gourmet meals for your all-inclusive stay. The kitchen is under the direction of the chef/proprietors, whose culinary talents have received praise from Food & Wine magazine, the New Orleans Times-Picayune, and the New York Times, among others.

Cerro Coyote's 65 acre property encompasses an entire mountaintop, and includes hiking trails, gardens, swimming pool, amongst forests, streams, and open fields.

The Guest Experience

Hacienda Cerro Coyote lies at the end of the Tillaran mountain chain, not far from the famed Monteverde Cloud Forest and on the way to Arenal Volcano, the Los Angeles Cloud Forest Preserve, and other attractions. Pacific coast beaches are also an easy drive away.

The secluded property offers abundant resources for guests to explore the flora and fauna of Costa Rica, hike, dine, and relax. Open seasonally to ensure superb weather, Cerro Coyote offers a Mediterranean climate. The Hacienda is remote and best reached by 4-wheel drive vehicle. Project architect Carlos Reyes, whose previous accomplishments include the Capitain Suizo Hotel in Tamarindo Beach, teamed up with the proprietors of Nova Scotia's Trout Point Lodge to create an exclusive and luxurious getaway in a remote and unfrequented part of Costa Rica.

Hacienda Cerro Coyote provides a total opportunity to get away from it all combined with culinary learning customized to your skills and desires. A unique place without the pressures and entanglements of modern life, guest can stay from 3 to 7 days and plan their own combination of relaxation and cooking instruction.
