KIDO : Community Based Nature Tourism

Carriacou Island and the Southern Grenadines Archipelago have exceptional natural attractions and exciting related activities to offer visitors. It is true that most of the Southern Grenadines have not been explored and therefore its resources have not been accurately assessed.

The existing reports of its outstanding biodiversity, both island based and marine, come from a handful of visiting earth science researchers and naturalists. Earthwatch programs beginning in January 2004 are the first systematic study to explore and assess the near pristine ecosystems of the Grenadines of Grenada.

The eco-tourism potential of this relatively vast area is quite astounding and projects such as Subproject 7 of KIDO Foundation/ECCEA have begun to establish the basis for conservation and a sustainable use of these natural resources.

Let the KERS staff arrange your guided eco-tour using professionally trained, local nature guides and make the most of your visit.

Weather
Two seasons rule the weather here: The not-so-wet rainy season from June to November and dry season from December to May. Temperatures are fairly constant year round. Historically, the Southern Grenadines are below the "hurricane belt."
