A popular tourist attraction, Malampuzha dam is set in an extremely scenic area. The majestic Western Ghats towers over the shimmering reservoir. The dam has a lovely garden and boating facilities for tourists.

The ‘Udan Khatola’ (Ropeway) is extremely popular and is the only one of its kind in South India.



A small town perched high on the Western Ghats, Nelliyampathy stands 1572 m above sea level at its highest point. Breathtakingly beautiful, Nelliyampathy is a place for all seasons. Blessed with a deliciously cool climate the year round, Nelliyampathy offers the visitor a plethora of activities.



There are superb trekking trails, fascinating waterfalls, breathtaking viewpoints, and ample wildlife. Nelliyampathy also offers rafting, camping, and horse riding facilities.




The only remaining stretch of tropical evergreen forest in India, Silent Valley National Park is spread over an area of 90 sq.km. The famed ‘silence’ of this valley is due to the absence of the Cicadas ( chirping insects ) which are usually found in abundance in wooded areas. The crystal clear ‘Kunti’ river flows through this magical land.




The Silent Valley teems with flora and fauna of a mind-boggling variety. Situated 80 km from Palakkad , Silent Valley is well connected by roads.





Spread over 285 km, Parambikulam has a large population of Bison, Spotted deer, Leopards, sloth bear, and tigers. The largest teak tree in Asia, the ‘ Kannimaram‘ teak is found in Parambikulam. Parambikulam is 110 km away from Palakkad. Entry into the forest is allowed only with prior permission.




Built by Hyder Ali in the year 1766, this fort is now popularly known as Tipu’s Fort. Tipu Sulthan did hold the fort for some time, but it has changed hands many times. The zamorins, Tipu Sulthan, and finally the British occupied the fort. The fort is a popular landmark and is very well preserved. A large moat surrounds the fort. A unique thing about the fort is that it houses a Hanuman temple within its walls.




Surrounded by heavily wooded hills, this picturesque dam is a visual treat. The recently inaugurated landscaped garden and boating facilities are added attractions. Kanjirappuzha dam is about 45 km from Palakkad.




The Meenvallam water falls cascades down 10 steps. The first two steps are quite easily accessible, but the next 8 steps are only for the truly adventurous. The grandeur and the sheer beauty of these falls have to be seen to be believed. Meenvallam is situated off the Palakkad - Mannarghat road, about 8 km from Thuppanad panchayath.




Set in the midst of dense wilderness, Siruvani is an exciting tourist destination. The dam offers a superb view of the heavily forested hills. Siruvani is 48 km away from Palakkad town.



The magnificent national bird of India, the peacock, can be found in abundance in Choolanoor.

This peacock sanctuary is also called Mayiladum para. As the name suggests, many a lucky visitor is treated to the lovely dance performance of this intriguing bird.





Guruvayur is a famous temple town and a very important pilgrimage center. The beautiful temple attracts visitors from all over the world. Guruvayur temple is also famous for its elephants. The interesting fact is that most of these magnificent animals are donated to the temple by devotees as offerings.
The elephants are housed in a center, which is now a great tourist attraction. Here, the elephants are housed and taken care off by a team of experts. Guruvayur is just a couple of hours drive away from kairali resorts.





Keralakalamandalam is the premier Center of excellence in Indian Performing Arts emphasizing especially on the traditions that developed in the State of Kerala, in the south west coast of India. Established in 1930, this unique institution, devoted to classical performing arts, is situated near the majestic river Bharathapuzha.




Kalpathy is an ancient Brahmin ‘agraharam’ (village) situated in the heart of Palakkad. The Kalpathy Ratholsavam, a temple festival, conducted at the vishwanatha temple, has been gaining popularity with each passing year. The teeming crowds pulling the massive ‘Ratham’ (chariot) through the streets of Kalpathy is an awe-inspiring sight. The festival is held every year in the month of November.




Nenmara Vallengy vela is held on the premises of the Bhagavathy temple at Nellikulangara. This festival is celebrated on pooram day during the Malayalam month of Meenam.


This festival draws crowds from Palakkad and neighboring districts. The amazing fire works display is considered to be as magnificent as the display at Thrissur pooram.
