Thomas Shepherd Inn Accommodations

Filled with homey touches, our comfortable guest rooms will make you feel as if you are visiting your favorite great-aunt. The original hardwood floors in the house have been lovingly maintained. You'll find beautiful oriental rugs and lovely wardrobes throughout the upstairs, along with a guest lounge equipped with phone, refrigerator, ice maker, Shenandoah Springs water dispenser and an extensive library of books and magazines. Our spacious living room on the first floor welcomes you with an inviting gas fireplace, television and DVD/VCR, videos, game table, and sherry. We enjoy central air-conditioning in the warm weather. For those of you who travel with your laptops, we have a wireless network in the Inn as well as a computer for guest use in the library. For your convenience, each guest room contains:

Soft knit, full-length monogrammed waffle robes (two per room)
Chocolates by the bedside
Both hypoallergenic fiber and feather pillows on the bed
Cozy comforters and feather mattress toppers (hypoallergenic fiberbeds available upon request)
Hair dryer
- Alarm clock/radio with soothing nature sounds
- Makeup removal washcloth and wipes
- Water glasses and bedside carafes
- Bar soap, hand soap, shampoo and bath gel

All guest rooms are located on the second floor of the Inn. Please note, to aid you in "getting away from it all", there are no televisions or telephones in the guest rooms. Inn policies are listed below the room details.

Room 1

Queen bed with private attached bath

A favorite for honeymoons and anniversaries, this spacious room has a queen bed topped by red toile draperies and an electric fire in the sitting area. The large private bathroom has a combination tub and shower with tile surround.

Room 6

This charming room with a queen canopy bed has been the setting for several engagements. The large private bath has an old-fashioned clawfoot tub with shower. The sitting area has a pull-out sofa and comfy chair.

Room 2

This pretty room has a queen sleigh bed and a loveseat for two. The private bath, with a pocket door and an exposed brick wall, has a combination tub and shower.

Room 5

This cozy room has a queen bed handmade in WV and two wingback chairs comfortably arranged in front of the window. The private bath is accented in yellow and has a combination tub and shower.

Room 4

Two full beds with private attached bath

Away from the street sides of the inn, this room has two full beds - both handmade in West Virginia - to accommodate guests who prefer separate beds. The private bath, accented with old-fashioned beadboard, has a combination tub and shower.

Room 3

Queen bed with private detached bath

Away from street sides of the inn, this room has a queen four-poster bed and a loveseat that converts to a twin bed. The private bath for this room is located a few steps directly across the hall. The Belgian walnut armoire contains robes for your convenience.

Because we are a small bed and breakfast, cancellations greatly affect us. When you reserve a room, we agree to turn away all other requests for that room and you agree to pay the rate quoted for the number of days you reserve it. If you cancel your reservation less than 7 days in advance for any reason, you are subject to one night's room charge for the cancellation. If you cancel your reservation less than 24 hours in advance, or do not arrive for your reservation as scheduled, or depart early, you are subject to charge for the entire stay booked. Reservations of three or more rooms will be subject to a 30-day notice for cancellation and an advance nonrefundable deposit.
With a Saturday or holiday booking we ask that you join us for at least a two-night stay. These rates are per night and assume 2 guests per room. A $20/night fee is required for 3 guests staying in the same room - however, we will accommodate a third guest in any one room only at our discretion due to capacity restrictions by WV Fire Code.
These rates are subject to change without notice. Corporate rates (one guest per room/no breakfast/best available room), AARP discounts and military discounts are available on weekdays only, subject to limited availability, and are not available during the Contemporary American Theater Festival. Discounted rates are not available in conjunction with gift cards or certificates unless they are issued by the Inn.
Rooms may be guaranteed with an advance deposit equal to 1 night's stay by credit card or check. The deposit will be applied to the last night's lodging with the balance due at check-in.
Smoking and candles are not allowed inside the inn due to West Virginia state fire codes. Both are permitted only in the garden and on the upstairs back porch which overlooks the garden. We must adhere strictly to this policy due to insurance and fire laws; we can smell the smoke even if you open the window in your room and blow it outside. Please don't make us charge you $250 for smoke cleaning or require you to find alternate lodging.
Check-in hours are 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Late check-in can be accommodated by prior arrangement.
The inn is not suited for young children. We will gladly accommodate well-behaved children over the age of 12 with adult supervision. Occupancy of any one room is limited to three of any age.
As the inn is home to two cats, we cannot accommodate guests' pets. Our housecats do not go into the guest rooms or common areas of the inn; however, you should exercise your own judgment in making a reservation if you are allergic.
We cannot accommodate guests under the age of 21 unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. We will ask for identification to verify your age, if necessary.
