Tango & the City 2007


Departure Day, Sunday, Arrive the following day in Buenos Aires Buenos Aires Day 1, Mon Bienvenidos!! Welcome to BsAs! We look forward to greeting you at the Ezeiza (EZE) Intl Airport. Arrival at the airport is generally before 9 am if you are coming in from the US. We’ll transfer to our hotel and do check in, then meet for a snack, introductions, and a review of our schedule. Check- in is officially at 3p but we hope rooms will be available earlier. Following check-in your options are: siesta or to join us for a walking tour of the neighborhood. Afternoon will include lunch followed by free-time to wander the ‘hood, hit an internet café, or grab a nap if you haven’t already. In the evening, we’ll walk to a delicious dinner. Return to the hotel; Buenas Noches!

Buenos Aires Day 2, Tues Morning! Breakfast is offered at the hotel. We’ll begin our day at 11am with an intro city tour; enjoy a peek into Buenos Aires’ story. We’ll share with you the historical layout of the city and the unique flavors of its distinct neighborhoods. Lunch at a cozy spot. From there free time until dinner. We’ll regroup at the hotel and depart for dinner at a beloved wine club (featuring excellent food with wine-tasting of local vinos).

Buenos Aires Day 3, Wed Morning! Breakfast is offered at the hotel. This morning we’ll introduce you to Jewish Buenos Aires; we’ll visit places of import to BA’s Jewish community in the Barrio Once and provide insight into Buenos Aires Jewish community life, past and present. In keeping with the theme of the day, we’ll enjoy lunch at a kosher venue. Afternoon is free. In the evening, a delicious dinner in the barrio of Puerto Madero.

Buenos Aires Day 4, Thurs Buen dia! Breakfast at the hotel. Today we’re going to San Antonio de Areco, where you’ll glimpse ranch-life and its importance in Argentine culture. We’ll teach you how to drink a proper mate (MAH-tay) and enjoy an authentic BBQ. Dinner back in BA.

Buenos Aires Day 5, Fri Today we’re cookin’ a la Argentine. Fabian, (our nice, Jewish chef) Transfer to workshop welcomes us into his kitchen to share the proper way to bring a bit of BA back with us back to our kitchens at home. Following our class, we’ll transfer to the barrio of Palermo for lunch and shopping tips for those who are interested. Free-time. Transfer to hotel. We’ll meet up in the evening for services for those who would like to go, and otherwise for Shabbat Dinner.

Buenos Aires Day 6, Sat Shabbat Shalom. We’ll begin today’s tour at 1pm with a picnic lunch followed by the stories of Buenos Aires via her artists. Our focus will be the Museo de Bellas Artes. Following, we’ll point you to an open-air market in Recoleta, where you can peruse locally-made crafts. La Biela, a famous café here, is renown for its people-watching. We’ll regroup in the evening for dinner on the town in Las Canyitas.

Buenos Aires Day 7-8, Sun+ Mon Two paths diverged in the wood…Choose your option for the next 3 days--either Iguazu Falls (air-travel) or remain in BA for a) Tango Intensive in BA or b) Spanish Intensive Iguazu Track- /b*The trip (which involves a flight) is approximately 4 hours door to door, and the gigunda falls, located on the Brazil/Argentina border are not to be missed schedule and budget permitting. It’s a truly unique experience and very difficult not to be amazed by the beauty here. Plan on wearing shoes that good for walking, and clothes that can get soaked. We recommend packing a total change of clothes (and a baggie for the wetstuff) for dinner and travel back to BA. Tango Track- We’ll depart for the studio at 11am, work on our tango skill until 1.30p; have lunch together with the Spanish trackers; and then regroup for dinner at 8p (meet in the lobby of the hotel). Iguazu Day 9, Tues Today we’ll head back to BA following breakfast. Travel time is approx 4 hours door to door. We’ll check in at the hotel and then grab a light lunch at Deb’s favorite empanada ‘diner.’ As tonight is our last night together, we’ll share a goodbye dinner and for those who want, enjoy a BA nightlife experience.

Buenos Aires Day 10, Wed Snapshot! Breakfast BA T0p 3 Lunch Free Transfer Airport Morning! It’s our last day! Breakfast at the hotel and check out. We’ll begin our day at noon with traveljewish Top 3 BA picks! (A Rose garden, Icecream, and Jewish memorial in a historic Cathedral). Lunch will be at 3pmish, followed by an hour free-time for final souvenir shopping and postcard pick-up. We’ll transfer back to the hotel and pick up our bags and make our way back to the airport.
