Treatments and Therapies
To help guests unwind and recharge, our spa services are provided at very modest fees by well-trained masseurs, masseuses, and aestheticians. They include Swedish and lymphatic massages, scalp and foot massages (reflexology), manicures, pedicures, facials and detoxifying mud wraps plus electromagnetic field therapy and Aslan (Procaine) anti-aging therapy.

On staff is an M. D. additionally trained in homeopathy and anti-stress treatments. These therapies work to undo the effects of stress and to improve the transmission of energy in the body to retard aging and maintain health.

Rio Caliente also now offers BIO-RESONANCE THERAPY, the latest European application of Biophysics-- a non-invasive, non-toxic therapy that not only treats a wide range of ailments but also restores one's natural capacity to remain healthy. Ideal for treating immune system, skin and weight problems, as well as asthma, allergies, blood pressure, fibromyaglia, viral infections etc.



Doing or Being-
Spa activities allow guests to set their own level of activity for the kind of renewal they need. Guests can choose from activities as dynamic as hiking, horseback riding, yoga, T'ai-Chi, swimming and water exercise, or as serene as a massage, a mud wrap, a soak in the pool or just sitting in the sun with a good book.

Eco Exploring-
Rio Caliente is surrounded and sheltered by the Sierra La Primavera, part of a magnificent belt of long extinct volcanic mountains. From deep underground comes the hot river, cradling Rio Caliente in a wide horseshoe. You can explore the varied ecology of the region -- over 100 varieties of birds, including the exotic Mot Mot, Orioles, the Squirrel-Tailed Cuckoo and Hummingbirds and plants including Montezuma Pine, tropical Palm and Bougainvillea. The local geological deposits of Rio Caliente tell the story of numerous violent volcanic eruptions -- deposits of ash flow, pumice, obsidian and caldera-lake sediments reveal the dramatic events which gave shape to Rio Caliente.

Shopping and sightseeing-
Some of the best shopping and most fascinating spots in Mexico are within an hour of Rio Caliente. The spa's van regularly takes guests to Tlaquepaque, a beautifully restored colonial town just outside Guadalajara and one of the arts and crafts centers of Mexico. Other popular Day Trip destinations are Guadalajara itself, with its market and famed Orozco murals, scenic Lake Chapala, or the village of Tequila, where Mexico's national beverage is made.
