Receiving a Professional Massage because massage is not yet a commonly experienced method of personal health care in our culture, many people do not know how to get the most out of a massage. Here are some suggestions: Relax as completely as possible by deep and regular breaths emphasizing the exhalation, and allow the body and its parts to become very heavy and sink into the table trying to let go and relax tension areas. Talking is generally distracting and unnecessary.
Good massage requires concentration on the part of the therapist. Let the therapist know if anything feels uncomfortable or if you want more or less pressure. The massage is your opportunity to feel good. Give some feedback. Allow the therapist to move your limbs into whatever position required. Don't try to be helpful. The therapist is a trained professional who knows what he or she is doing. Do not be afraid to express emotions if they arise. Sometimes during massage unexpected emotions may surface, and it is beneficial if these can be let go of and worked through. Let yourself sigh with relaxation or hum with pleasure. Closing your eyes during the massage helps focus your attention out of the head and into the body.
See with your sense of touch. Feel your body both inside and out. Enjoy!
Environmentally Friendly
I have clearly chosen to provide a healthy living environment for myself and to others through my Natural B&B. Because of the increase of toxic sources in our environment daily, we face an increasing risk of allergic reactions in the form of chemical sensitivities and environmental illnesses.
Few people know that the air inside the average American home is more polluted than the outside air. Allergic reactions to toxic substances in our environment now constitute the single greatest source of illness in Western society.
Those who seek a healthier lifestyle can significantly reduce their exposure to these toxins by paying attention to what they buy.
The relationship between your home and your health is far more intimate than you probably suspect. The following are just a few of the toxic potentials in your home: floor wax can give you headaches, gas cooking can cause chronic depression, mold growing in your air ducts can cause insomnia, & wallpaper can be an insecticide and fungicide-lined box.
Some of the major contaminants in the home are ammonia in cleaners, glue and paint; asbestos in wallboard, floor tile, heating ducts, and insulation; carbon dioxide from fuel burning stoves and heaters, carbon monoxide from natural oxidation of household chemicals; chlorine in bleach, water, scouring powder, pesticides, plastics and rubber; dust from pollens, pets, cooking, carpets, fabrics, and building materials; formaldehyde in insulation, carpet, paper and fabric treatments, toothpaste & cosmetics, fungus in damp bathrooms and basements, mildew clothing, carpets, refrigerators, and gas in hairsprays, lighters, heating and cooking fuel.
