Saturday: Arrival in Quito, you'll be met at the airport and Transferred to your hotel. Sunday: Bike along the beautifully diverse Nono road. We first climb (in a 4-wheel drive) the steep mountain road to viewpoints high over Quito and the surrounding mountains! Then we bike downhill and along a rushing stream until Tandayapa, with different mountain and forest views at every turn. From Tandayapa, we continue onto our lodge located on a private reserve in the thickly - forested mountains!! O/n lodge (B, L). Monday: A full day to explore the reserve's cloud forest trails! Walk through the forest, passing pristine rivers while enjoying and observing a variety of endemic trees, plant and wildflower species including orchids, bromeliads, heliconias and anthuriums. Some of the main attractions are the hundreds of bird species that inhabit the exuberant protected forest, as well as anteaters, armadillos and deer. O/n lodge. (B,L).       Tuesday: Guided birdwatching hike in the early morning hours. Look for colorful tanager flocks, trogons, toucans, bright woodpeckers and more. Then for those who wish, horses are available for a nice ride along the quiet roads in the area (additional cost) or again, explore more areas of the reserve on your own or with a guide! O/n lodge. (B,L). Wednesday: We leave early for a drive through verdant landscapes down the mountains to raft rivers Toachi and / or Blanco. We'll train you in safety techniques before beginning our rafting adventure. Once on the river, you can expect both the action of thrilling whitewater and the tranquillity of drifting silently through tropical rainforests, absorbing the sounds of the forest and seeing wildlife as we move! During the trip, we'll stop for lunch beside the river, and at the end, a few cold beers will warm our spirits before we travel to our hosteria alongside the river and enjoy the waning hours of the day hiking in the forest, or just relaxing by the pool! O/n lodge (B, L, D). Thursday: We'll have lots more white water action on the lower Blanco river today! But also, we'll have the chance to catch our breath and take in the deep beauty of the surroundings. Afterwards, we'll drive up a wonderfully serpentine road into the Andes! O/n lodge (B, L, D).   Friday: A day to remember as we take our 4 - wheel drive up to the perfect snowcapped cone of Cotopaxi volcano in the midst of the paramo vastness of Cotopaxi National Park. We take our bikes for an exhilarating ride downhill from the refuge, with vast views and the towering cone of the volcano above us! O/n hotel in Quito (B, L). Saturday: No trip would be complete without a visit to the world - famous Otavalo market! Chunky sweaters, woolen tapestries, felt hats, so many fascinating items at reasonable prices! We'll also visit Cotacachi for its incredible range of good quality leather goods. A typical lunch will be provided - delectable Ecuadorian specialties! Back to Quito for your final evening of our adventure package. Memories to share, and maybe to plan further adventures! O/n Quito (B, L).
